Camille Lavoie has obtained a very competitive NSERC scholarship to pursue her master's program. Camille will be working with Philip Archambault on the biology of benthic organisms. In our lab, Camille has done a wonderful work on the functional diversity of cyanobacteria (Stigonema/Nostoc) associated with lichens and the use of alternative nitrogenases.

Marta has obtained a prestigious scholarship to visit the Field Museum in Chicago. Marta will be working with Felix Grewe on population genomics of lichen woodland species. Bravo Marta! We will miss you in the lab!
Congratulations to Adriel Sierra!!!, a new PhD student in the Villarreal lab, for obtaining the BESS Create Program fellowship!! Adriel's thesis will focus on the impact of forest fragmentation in the Amazonian rainforests.
